Water and sanitation

PVF supports projects helping vulnerable communities build and maintain safe water and sanitation systems through equitable access, efficient use and sustainable management of water resources.

The active participation of the beneficiary population by contributing in cash or labor and paying the cost of operation and maintenance of water facilities is always expected. Another essential prerequisite is the inclusion of women, who are usually in charge of water provision, in all decision-making processes regarding water's allocation and management.

Ultimately, PVF's goals to increase the earning potential and livelihood security of households and more specifically of women by saving them time otherwise spent gathering water and to reduce the health risks of water-related diseases.
